Experience The Difference A Fin Expeditions Tour Makes
Our Tours are Different:We are a local, family-owned operation and we strive to treat every guest like family. From the moment you show up through our farewell we want you to feel like you are paddling with friends. Just show up and let us take care of the rest! Our Cocoa Beach kayak tours are run by guides who are knowledgable, friendly, and know the local area inside and out. Let them take you off the beaten path into places you wouldnt have discovered on your own.
Group Size is Important:Unlike some other kayak tour companies, we limit our groups to a maximum of 12 guests. Our average group size is 6 people. We are firm believers that smaller groups deliver a more intimate experience so we limit group sizes to ensure we can give you more personal attention. Just imagine what happens to a group of animals when a large kayak group paddles into their habitat. In addition, large groups require the guide to speak very loudly to communicate. With our smaller groups, we can provide more personal discussions regarding the things we see.
Our Equipment is Better:We believe by fully equipping our guests, we provide an upscale experience. We use high-end kayaks with high-back seats for your comfort. We clean and sanitize all equipment and life jackets after each use.

Scrappie33Fun but not exactly what we expectedDeb-NY-FLAwesome night trip viewing bioluminescenceWe had an amazing kayaking trip last night. The showing was incredible. This isnt our first time using this company. Cameron was the best guide. Very knowledgeable about the area we were kayaking in and what we were Viewing. Bioluminescence is not to be missed if visiting the area in the summer. We have also done day trips with them and totally enjoyed our day. It is an amazing trip.
Destination524942Wonderful experienceAbsolutely wonderful experience! The guides were knowledgeable and patient. We loved the entire experience. The kayaks were comfortable and easy to maneuver. It was better than expected as we watched bioluminescent fish dart through the water and enjoyed a wonderful evening. I would recommend it highly and look forward to doing it again!
WatfordDannyboyExcellent KayakingWe did a morning kayak from Cocoa Beach Ramp Road. Darius and Cameron were excellent guides – very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw dolphin and manatees plus lots of different birds and fish, rays etc. Weather was just perfect for a very relaxing morning on the water. Kids were aprehensive beforehand as they had not kayaked before, however they came away stating it was the best activity of our holiday.

Where Is The Best Place To See Bioluminescence Near Cocoa Beach
In the summer months both the Banana River and the Indian River glow bright with bioluminescence. Many people refer to this as the Bioluminescent Bay of Florida. The bioluminescence here is equally bright, if not more so, than what you will see in the bio bays of the Caribbean. The inland waterways make for the perfect conditions of high concentrations of bioluminescent plankton.
When to go: We do this tour at Kiwanis Island in summer months from May September. We do year round clear kayak bioluminescence tours at the Merritt Island Wildlife refuge. Click here for that tour: Wildlife Refuge Clear Kayak Tour.
Tours depart nightly: In summer months there are 3-4 departures per night between 8:30 pm to midnight. Book early for July/August weekends as tours often sell out.
What type of kayak: This tour is in tandem kayak only due to restrictions of the number of boats allowed on the water in the areas we kayak. The clear kayaks are a canoe-kayak hybrid and have a maximum weight limit of 415 lbs, but it is recommended that both riders are under 200lbs.

10/10! This trip was awesome! We saw manatees just feet away from our kayak, caught and released comb jellies, our guide Ryan was full of information about the ecosystem and we saw a rocket on the pad all lit up at night. It was all 100% worth the drive, money and time. Perfect for a date night!
The Beauty Of Bioluminescent Waters
The terminology sounds complex, but the results are stunning. Cocoa Beach is a destination lucky enough to be surrounded by bioluminescent waters which provide observers with the incredible neon glowing effect thats made by nature to mesmerize! While some have witnessed this natural wonder on their own and been captivated, others have found a way to jump right in and be a part of the experience. Thats where bioluminescence kayak tours come into play.
At night, certain areas of the water near and around Cocoa Beach may appear to glow or sparkle. This happens due to a number of natural factors happening below the waves. A chemical process in certain jellies , crustaceans, algae, and smaller fish gives them the ability to glowboth attracting mates and illuminating prey. To the observer from above the waves, the water is a rainbow of blue or green lights, making for an amazing moment you wont soon forget.
When youre in Cocoa Beach or nearby, one of the best ways to view this amazing sight is by kayak. There are several area companies that offer clear kayaking tours where you can see right through the bottom of the kayak and down into the glow below. Its an amazing night excursion option that guests find draws them back time and again.

The Beauty Of Comb Jellies
During several times of the year in Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, the Indian River Lagoon, and several other Florida East Coast areas, the gelatinous comb jellies take over the starring role in the Indian River Lagoon light show. While commonly mistaken for a standard jellyfish, comb jellies are distinct animals named for the huge, comb-like rows of cilia running up and down their bodies structure. They are able to generate colors in two specific ways: through the bioluminescent process emitting a flashing green-blue light when disturbed and by refracting light through the movement of their cilia. The cilia combs act like little paddles, moving the jellies and scattering the beautiful light, which creates a beautiful pulsing, rainbow-like pattern. The end result is an underwater illumination display that is similar to what youd see on a dinoflagellates bioluminescence kayak tour of the lagoon in summer or early fall, yet the experiences are unique and worth a separate bioluminescent kayak tour for each.
