Theres A Wheeled Option With Your Isle Explorer Travel Bag

ISLE Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board Review

An explorer needs a bag to store things, and the ISLE Explorer paddle board gives you a choice: you can select the regular SUP back pack, with mesh sides and bungee ties on the front or you can choose the inflatable SUP wheeled travel bag. If youre going to be flying, the wheeled bag is strong with sturdy zippers and carry handles and straps.

Our Analysis And Test Results

The Isle Explorer is a favorite among our testers because it’s stable, easy to paddle, lightweight, and has tons of cargo space. It scores near the top of its class in nearly every rating metric, and our team is always happy to take it out for a spin. The Explorer combines dependable all-around performance with higher-end materials and construction than most of the bargain-priced boards, but still comes in at a reasonable price compared to the higher-end competitors.

How Do You Fold Up An Isle Inflatable Paddle Board

Folding an ISLE SUP is also extremely easy to do. After deflating your board, begin to fold the board up by starting at the tail fold the tail of the board over so that the fin boxes are facing up. Next, fold the section with the center fin box back over the section with the side fins and then fold everything together toward the nose.

Isle Explorer Paddle Board

An Isle Explorer paddle board is perfect for gliding along the shore of a lake, dipping in and out of a protected ocean inlet, or even for exploring rivers. It has six-point crisscross bungee tie-downs at the front of the board, and a four-point arrangement at the rear. This lets you balance your load so that you and your gear are perfectly distributed on your board. Like all Isle boards, it comes with a starter kit that includes the paddle, carries bag, inflator, stickers, and instruction manual.

The Best Standup Paddleboards Of 2022

If youre considering an inflatable standup paddleboard for exploring lakes, rivers, harbors, or even the ocean, check out our list of the best SUPs of the season.

Standup paddleboarding is one of the fastest-growing water sports of the past decade. Theres a good chance youre familiar with standup paddleboarding, but if you arent, heres what you need to know.

Standup paddleboarding, or SUPing, is the act of standing on a solid epoxy or inflatable plastic board tapered at both ends and using a paddle to move through the water. Whether youre floating a mellow river or lake, navigating Class 2 rapids, or exploring coastlines, a SUP offers freedom and exposure you dont get in a boat or kayak.

Some paddlers use their boards for multiday adventures, while others race, fish, surf ocean waves, do yoga, run whitewater, hike to glacial tarns, or hang out with friends and family at the local reservoir.

Paddleboards are similar in shape to a long ocean surfboard but also have fins that are removable or fixed on the bottom, which help the board track well in the water while being steered.

Inflatables, which we focus on here, are a great option because when theyre deflated, they can more easily fit in a closet, trunk, or truck bed. You can even take them on airplanes. Inflatable designs have benefits on the water, too, like durability against rocks or other debris.

Otherwise, hop into our top picks of inflatable standup paddleboards for 2022:

Isle Scout Sup Boards Review 2022

With these sorts of iSUPs, we need to give a disclaimer before talking about their performance: this is not a performance board and is not designed for racing or anything of that sort. This is a board designed to be more of a means to an end. That being said, the changes this year do actually make for a better-performing iSUP.

Isle Scout Inflatable Paddle Board Package

As with any yoga or family board, this board is incredibly stable, even for its size. When you move around in relatively calm water, you move your body from side to side and not feel like youre going to tip over. Another aspect of this is getting on the boar from the water. When a board is too light or narrow, the board want to flip over when you try to get on. This isnt the case with the Scout.

Why I Picked The Isle Pioneer Inflatable Stand

Inflatable or Hard Board? Paddle Board Review

I picked the Isle Pioneer Inflatable Stand-Up Paddle Board for a few reasons.

First, I wanted a board of a particular width due to my height. I needed something wider to help me feel more stable on the water, especially on waves. I had done a google search looking for paddle boards 34 or wider and came across this particular board.

Second, I liked the price of the board. I didnt want to spend more than $1,000 on an inflatable stand-up paddle board. Isle was running a sale, plus they offer a first responder discount The price was just perfect for what I was looking for.

Third, I wanted a board with more handles than just the handle in the middle. I wanted extra handles in the front and rear of the board to make it easier to pull out of the water when I am standing onshore. The board can get slippery when its wet and full of river grime, so the extra handles make it much easier to pull out of the water. Sure, I probably could have added more to my first board, but if I could buy one with additional handles, why wouldnt I?

Isle Cruiser Soft Top

The epoxy paddle board has a soft top for maximum comfort as you paddle. Its construction guarantees durability and rigidity for surfing. It has a front bungee for easy access to your goods. The long paddle has a good grip, and you can easily adjust to your preference.

Bottom Line

Getting the perfect stand up paddle board requires you to consider some factors. When buying one, consider the above points to determine the suitable one for you. The best paddle board should be easy to use, last long and take you through an exciting experience.

Overall Review

Isle is a popular company for a reason. They sell a lot of paddle boards in the market today and offer a wide variety to chose from. They are durable boards that are reasonably priced and readily available. I personally enjoy the design and looks of their boards. If you are looking for a mid range performance board, these should be just what you are looking for.

Atoll 11 Best All Around Inflatable Paddle Board

The Atoll 11 is my top pick for the best overall inflatable paddle board. It perfectly balances speed and stability, making it a great option for paddlers of all skill levels, and the build quality makes for a durable board that I know I can rely on.

In fact, one of the main things I love about the Atoll 11 is its rugged construction. The machine-laminated dual-layer PVC and Korean dropstitch construction results in a SUP that can take pretty much anything. This means that its one of the toughest inflatables around.

I have no worries about damaging the board when I transport my Atoll 11 to the water or when Im out on it.

The durability of the board is matched by its great performance on the water.

In fact, Ive found the Atoll 11 to be one of the easiest boards to paddle. At just 21lbs its easy to carry too but some extra grab handles would have been appreciated , and theres also no attachment point so dont buy this board if you want to mount a camera or fishing rack.

The Atoll has two fixed sidefins which make rolling up the board more difficult and less compact. When you stack multiple boards on top of each other the sidefins are prone to bend and prone to dent the deckpad of the board below.

The center fin uses a universal finbox, which makes getting a replacement fin easy, but its a little more cumbersome to install the fin than with the snap-in fin boxes brands .

Where Can You Get The Best Sup Value

ISLE Peak Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board Review

With plenty of stand up paddle board companies to choose from, it can seem overwhelming to find the perfect one. The key is to look beyond the marketing and pull back the layers to see exactly what each company offers. The major things to consider when choosing a company are the makeup of the board, the price of the board, the guarantee, and the customer service.

What Are The General Stand Up Paddle Boarding Rules On The Water

  • The US Coast Guard passed a regulation in 2008 that classifies paddle boards as vessels. Outside of a swim or surf zone, a stand-up paddle board is considered a vessel and must adhere to the same rules and regulations. This may include a Coast Guard-approved life jacket in serviceable condition for each person onboard and a signaling device like a whistle. Children under the age of 13 are required to wear a type 1, 2, or 3 Personal Flotation Device at all times. PFDs must be size-appropriate for the wearer.
  • Since SUPs are one of if not the smallest, vessels on the water, they essentially have no right of way and typically must give way to larger vessels. They can be hard to see from a distance. Wear brightly colored clothing to increase visibility.
  • SUPs must always cross behind or astern of oncoming motorized boat traffic.
  • To SUP after sunset or at dawn or dusk, you are required to have a white light such as a flashlight that is visible up to a mile and capable of warning other boaters by shining towards oncoming traffic.
  • If you’re not keen on wearing a type 3 PFD, there are pouch type manually inflated life jackets or C02 triggered inflatable belt style PFDs available. These PFDs offer more range of movement, but keep in mind that if you are paddling somewhere where you might hit your head, you may not be conscious and able to inflate your PFD. Check out the Onyx M-24 SUP Belt. It’s manually inflated with a replaceable C02 cartridge.

Falls Happen Proper Falling Is Important

ISLE Versa Stand Up Paddle Board Review

Everyone falls of their board from time to time. It doesnt matter if you have been paddleboarding for ten minutes or ten years, falls are unavoidable. However, you can help yourself to avoid getting seriously injured if you will simply learn to fall properly.

Paddleboards are not soft plushy pillows so they can hurt pretty badly if you fall on them or you get hit with them after you fall. The most important thing to remember is to fall away from your board.

If you fall on the board or the fin, it can cause serious injury and no one wants that to happen.

Though it is so much more fun to practice tricks and catching waves, it is probably a good idea to practice wiping out a couple of times, too.

When you think you are going to fall, think fast and fall away from the board and in the opposite direction that the board will be pushed by the waves.

If you are using the leash like you are supposed to, you wont have to worry about losing your board because it cant go far if its attached to you.

    Sea Gods Skylla Cross

The Sea Gods Skylla is an impressive and lightweight hybrid board that balances the stability and versatility of an all-around with the speed and tracking capabilities of a touring SUP.

At 11 x 33, the Skyllas dimensions are a bit unorthodox at first glance, however its longer waterline combined with its tapered nose raise its speed capabilities above that of more classic all-arounds. At the same time, the 33 width combined with its boxy, squared off tail help to maximize the wet area, keeping the paddler feeling stable and supported on the water.

As with all Sea Gods SUPs, the Skylla has a few features to make it even more accommodating to a range of SUP activities. Integrated into the front and rear cargo area, the Skylla showcases 4 total universal action mounts, as well as kayak seat compatibility with 4 extra D-rings along the rails.

One of the things that impressed us the most about this board is its thoughtful construction. Unlike the rest of Sea Gods line, the Skylla is constructed using a cross-woven drop stitch, enabling Sea Gods to make this their lightest SUP at just 19 lbs, while also being the stiffest of their line up. On the water, this translates into a higher weight range without needing to opt for a heavily built SUP.

The Skylla has been a weekend staple here at SUPBoardGuide, as its versatile performance and ability to load up with camping gear, passengers, or pets make it a true jack of all trades.
