How To Pass The Quagga And Zebra Mussel Inspection
All vessels entering Lake Perris will be inspected for Quagga and Zebra Mussels. This includes all canoes, kayaks, sail boats, rubber rafts, fishing waders, scuba gear, etc.
Only boats and equipment which are clean, drained, and completely dry, will pass inspection. If you are coming from a known quagga-infected body of water, you must wait 8 calendar days before bringing it to Lake Perris or Silverwood Lake.
If your boat or equipment, including but not limited to sails, life vests, and skis, are wet, damp, or moist, you will not pass inspection. Failure to pass inspection will result in a full 8 calendar day dry-out period before that failed vessel is allowed to launch at a State Park Reservoir.Multiple watercraft: All vessels on a trailer will be automatically failed if one of the vessels fails inspection. For example, if there are two jet skis on the trailer, and one fails inspection, then the other vessel will be failed as well.
Unfortunately there is no easy way for anyone to identify if a damp boat is infested with the mussels. All watercraft must go through inspection before they are allowed to enter the park. We want you to pass inspection, but we all have a responsibility to protect Californias waterways, drinking water supplies, and your watercraft from these destructive, invasive mussels.

The untended areas of Lake Perris may seem rocky and barren at first glance, but an amazing variety of natural wonders are waiting to be found by those who seek them out. The predominant plant community, coastal sage scrub, is home to a variety of birds and wildlife. Mule deer, roadrunners, bobcats, coyotes, cotton tail, jack rabbits, quail, gopher snakes, and rattlesnakes may sometimes be seen by day, though they tend to shy away from people. More frequently seen are a wide variety of lizards, rodents, water fowl, and birds of prey. Beautiful displays of wildflowers occur during the rainy season- generally November through April.
Most plants and animals at Lake Perris are well adapted to the hot, dry environment. Chamise leaves are tiny and waxy to maximize water retention when encountering evaporation. Some grasses and wildflowers rush from bloom to seed in just a few short weeks and are able therefore to complete their life cycle within the brief wet season. Lake Perris Quagga And Zebra Mussels Boat Inspections
All boats must undergo a mandatory inspection. This inspection is to prevent the spread of Quagga and Zebra Mussels. All vessels must be clean, drained, and dry prior to entering Lake Perris.
Inspections include canoes, kayaks, sailboats, rafts, fishing waders, scuba gear, etc. If you are coming from a Quagga Infected body of water you must wait 7 days before bringing your boat to Lake Perris. You will automatically be quarantined for 7 days if you have not waited 7 days to bring your vessel to Lake Perris from a quagga infested lake or river. If your boat or any object, including but not limited to sails, life vests, and skis, on your boat is wet, damp, or moist, your vessel will be quarantined for 7 days.
Do not wash, rinse, or hose your boat before coming to Lake Perris. Your watercraft will not be allowed in the park. Let the boat dry for 5 days minimum after washing.

Lake Perris To Have New Marina Operation
PERRIS On July 1, Rec-Out SoCal began rebuilding a new marina, marina store, and other facilities at Lake Perris to provide a greater range of service to the one million visitors that visit each year. Lake Perriss first marina was built in the early 80s and the lake has been operating with out a marina and store since 2019.
Over time, the facility and docks became irreparable, said John Rowe, superintendent of California State Parks Inland Empire/Perris sector in an email from June 24. We also had a concessionaire whose 30-year contract expired, and they were unwilling to invest in making the repairs and compete for a new contract. Recently, AFY agreed to this publicly advertised concession contract.
Todd Matthews, owner of Rec-Out SoCal is now the lease holder for the marina facilities.
The first facility will be a very small bait, soft drink, and ice store opened on July 1 located near the entrance road to the marina.
Matthews said they won the contract to rebuild the facilities in February 2021. However, a succession of issues had to be resolved before beginning operations and building a new program. The most considerable delay was caused by the need to replace the old water lines that fed the marina operations. The old pipes were contaminated with asbestos and needed to be replaced. It took a year to figure out who was responsible for replacing the piping, and eventually, state parks absorbed the $1 million-plus cost and had the work done.

If you own a sailboat over eight feet long or a boat/vessel with a motor , you must register it with DMV in order to legally operate it on California waterways.
You can register your boat/vessel at any DMV field office, or mail your registration application.
Vessels having valid registration in the state of principal use
and not remaining in California over 90 consecutive days do not require CA registration.
Boats and vessels from out of state are required to have
Certificate of Ownership: this is your evidence of title to the vessel.
Certificates issued will also contain the boats identifying number ,
which is the number permanently marked on the transom by the manufacturer or builder,
or the number assigned by the state of issue, and marked on the transom by the owner.

The card is required for all persons age 45 and under to operate a boat in California’s waters, which includes Silverwood Lake, Lake Perris, and all other inland waterways as well.
